How do I optimise my LockNLoad Platform (New 2026 range) for a quieter ride?

Built to carry more. Designed to take it easy.

The LockNLoad Platform 2026+ has been tested across a wide range of vehicles and adventures. Because every vehicle interacts with airflow differently, Yakima offers a Tall Wind Deflector accessory for the new LockNLoad Platform (2026+ range) to help optimise performance on select fitments where additional airflow management may be beneficial.

Note: The Tall Wind Deflector is not compatible with the original early generation LockNLoad Platforms (pre 2026 model). These models do include a shorter wind deflector as standard.

What is the Tall Wind Deflector?

The Tall Wind Deflector is an additional accessory for LockNLoad Platform (2026+). It's 30mm taller than the standard deflector and is designed to help manage airflow on certain vehicle setups.

Why does it exist?

Every vehicle is different. Roof shape, windscreen angle, rack position, leg or RuggedLine fitment, tyres, snorkel, bull bar and accessories can all affect airflow.

The Tall Wind Deflector provides an additional option to help optimise performance where required.

Do I need one?

Most customers won't.

However, if you're experiencing wind noise with your LockNLoad Platform (2026+), a Tall Wind Deflector may help improve airflow and reduce noise on your particular vehicle.

Will it eliminate wind noise?

Every vehicle and fitment is different, so results can vary. In many cases, the Tall Wind Deflector has proven effective at improving airflow and reducing wind noise.

Can rack position affect wind noise?

Yes.

Small adjustments to platform position can sometimes make a noticeable difference. We recommend checking your fitment is installed according to Yakima specifications before making any changes.

How do I know which one I need?

Tall Wind Deflectors are available to suit all LockNLoad Platform (2026+) widths:
