Yakima Partners with Whakapapa, One of the North Island's Premier Adventure Destinations
We're excited to announce that Yakima is officially partnering with Whakapapa, Mt Ruapehu for the 2026 season.
Located in the heart of Tongariro National Park, Whakapapa is one of the North Island's most iconic adventure destinations. While many know it for its world-class skiing and snowboarding, the mountain attracts adventurers year-round, from winter snow seekers to summer hikers, campers and explorers.

The Weekend on the Mountain
We were lucky enough to spend the long weekend at Whakapapa, showcasing the fully kitted Kia Tasman and fitting out Whakapapa's new support vehicle, a Toyota Hilux.
It was a fantastic weekend, with more than 7,000 people heading up the mountain. We loved chatting with visitors, showing off the Yakima setup, and even managed to sneak in some time on the slopes with the family. A pretty perfect way to spend a long weekend.
Throughout the weekend, we gave away plenty of spot prizes, a Whakapapa Season Pass (congratulations, Jessica H!), and kept the fun going on social media with our "Icy Polls".
