Yakima Backs Volunteer Medics at NZ Events
At Yakima, we believe that adventure should always come with a strong focus on safety, and we’re proud to support those who make that their mission.
Recently, Yakima partnered with Adventure Safety Solutions, a passionate team of outdoor professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to provide medical support at some of New Zealand’s biggest endurance events, including Challenge Wanaka and the NZ MTB Rally.
This volunteer medic crew, made up of five highly skilled members, plays a vital role in ensuring athlete safety during high-intensity multisport events. During one of their most recent events, the six-day NZ MTB Rally, the team responded to 23 patients, providing fast, on-the-ground assistance in remote and rugged terrain.
To support their mission, Yakima supplies the team with a range of racks, including the FreshTrack ski carrier and HangOver vertical bike rack. Mounted on their Discovery 4, these racks have proved invaluable. They were used daily to:
- Shuttle medics between stages and checkpoints
- Transport injured riders’ bikes back to base camp
- Keep gear mobile and accessible throughout each day
